About me

Federico Maiorini – Senior Backend Developer & Storyteller

Hi, I’m Federico Maiorini, a backend developer with over 20 years of experience in web and software development. Online, you’ll often find me under the nickname Procionegobbo — a long story that goes back to my Master’s degree in Videogame Design.

I currently work as a Senior PHP Developer at Fitprime Labs, where I design and build services and microservices in Laravel, focusing on performance, scalable architectures, and integration with third-party systems (SSO, REST APIs, Stripe, Auth0).

Over the years, I have:

  • introduced Laravel as a framework in companies like Mind the Head, raising code quality and standards
  • built full-stack solutions for large clients, mainly in the pharmaceutical sector
  • worked in both public and corporate environments using LAMP, .NET, SharePoint, C#, Angular, Oracle, and more

🛠 Core competencies

  • Framework: Laravel
  • Languages: PHP 8+, SQL, JavaScript
  • Databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server
  • DevOps: TDD, GitHub Actions, caching systems (Redis)
  • Integration: SSO SAML, OAuth2, external APIs (Stripe, Google, Auth0)
  • Methodologies: Agile (Scrum), Pair Programming, Code Review

🧰 Tools I use daily

  • Dev environment: Laravel Herd, Docker, Tinkerwell
  • Debug & diagnostics: Spatie Ray, Xdebug
  • Deployment: Laravel Forge, GitHub Actions
  • Editor & CLI tools: VS Code, Warp, TablePlus
  • Version control: Git, GitHub, BitBucket

📚 Currently learning

  • Design patterns applied to modern Laravel and PHP
  • Exploring event-driven architecture (Laravel events & queues)
  • Golang, as a fast and lightweight backend alternative
  • Creative writing and worldbuilding for personal storytelling projects

🎲 Game master, writer, worldbuilder

Since 1985, I’ve been a passionate game master, storyteller, and creator of imaginary worlds. I’ve written and run countless campaigns like the mythos surrounding Portanus, a dark and ancient deity born from my love for archaeology, history, and mystery.

I also use role-playing as a team-building tool in the workplace — to foster creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving.
